Oosaravelli Movie Telugu Review

Revealed: Bollywood is not an easy place even for hot and happening women

No matter how progressive the world around us gets, Bollywood will always remain a male dominated industry

They say behind every successful man there is a woman. But, in Bollywood, there seems to be one too many.

From Kareena Kapoor, riding high on her '100-crore heroine' tag, to a Katrina Kaif, deemed as the latest Khan queen, actresses in the industry seem to be only too happy to latch on to the triumphs of their male co-stars even today.

"Even before the film's release, I know it's going to be a hit. So why wouldn't I work with an SRK or an Aamir, " says Kareena.

From the very beginning, the big boys have been calling the shots in Bollywood. And the girls, who make them look good, stand pretty and obeyed.

Friends with benefits
Be it within a film or even their personal equations, Bollywood beauties seem to have little choice but to play along with their more successful male co-stars to keep the roles coming.

The recent Kangna Ranaut spat with Sanjay Dutt and Ajay Devgn proves the point. Sources say the actors won't touch her with a barge pole now.

Clearly, this is not the first time when the heroine has been at the receiving end of the wrath. Everyone's aware of the infamous fight between Shah Rukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan during Chalte Chalte (2005).

A disagreement with then boyfriend Salman Khan resulted in Ash being ousted from the film and replaced by Rani Mukerji.

On the other hand Priyanka Chopra, who did films like Mujhse Shaadi Karoge and God Tussi Great Ho with Sallu, is now not in the best of terms with him.

Result? She will never be part of Salman's paisa vasool cinema. That leaves her with little choice than to keep her foot strong within the SRK territory.

While Kareena made sure she shared good rapport with Aamir Khan, even Bipasha Basu is apparently trying to get into the good books of Sallu.

As for Katrina, from the Khans to the Kumars she has it all covered.

No woman-oriented cinema
Though this year has seen films like No One Killed Jessica and even Saat Khoon Maaf with women as the centre of the story, neither of the films did great business.

However for someone like Madhur Bhandarkar, who has probably churned out maximum female-oriented scripts, it's about the choices our heroines make.

Says Madhur, "We can count on our fingers the number of actresses who will be able to pull off a Fashion or a Heroine.

And even if they can, many of them choose to stick to conventional song and dance cinema."

For Milan Lutharia, who is directing his first woman-oriented subject with The Dirty Picture, the male actor is a producer's crutch. "The hero is a very saleable commodity and no one can deny that.

I can't expect a Rs 70 crore film to run only with a heroine. However, in The Dirty Picture my actress is as aggressive as a hero.

You need an actress as talented as Vidya to hold the fort and only then it is worth the risk."

Adds Bipasha Basu, "It only makes sense to go with whatever works. People like to see commercial entertaining films and I will do them as long as they satisfy me. There could be four heroes or none, doesn't matter."

Money matters
Over the past few years, with action coming back with a bang, the heroes seem to have acquired even more might.

This has resulted in not just doubling of their pay cheques, but most of them even claiming profit shares in their films. However, it seems to have had little impact on the salaries of our leading ladies.

Says trade analyst Amod Mehra, "Movies with heroines as the central character hardly manage to make money Even the highest paid heroine in Bollywood gets only 20 per cent of what a mainline hero makes."

So be it Ash, who was paid between R 3-4 crores for Robot, or Kareena, who has reportedly bagged Rs 8 crores for Heroine, their pay cheques hardly come close to that earned by their leading men.

Madata Kaja Movie Review

The Rating
2.75 / 5

The Film

Madatha Kaja, a proclaimed comic flick, has an elaborate charade played out a bit too far even to accept or dismiss it as a mere make-believe set up. The film, intended to be a laugh riot, ends up with a few spoofs on hit film scenarios and stars. It does give some moments of laughter here and there.
The Synopsis
Kalyan (Naresh) is a loner in Visakhapatnam earning a living as a police informer under the tutelage of one town CI Saikumar (Dharmavarapu Subramanyam). He comes across Swapna (Sneha Ullal) and wins over her heart by playing a charade along with his friend and later telling her the truth.
In Hyderabad, two gangsters KP (Ahuthi Prasad) and JP (Jayaprakash Reddy) are rivals but work for the same don Nanda (Ashish Vidhyarthi) stationed in Bangkok. To unite KP and JP, Nanda wants KP’s daughter Swapna to be married to JP’s son. Ajay (Subba Raju).
KP asks Swapna to come to Hyderabad. Coincidentally, police commissioner (Chalapathi Rao) asks Kalyan to go to Hyderabad to keep tabs on KP, JP and Nanda. Kalyan gets the assistance of a cop (Ali) and drugs Ajay and goes to KP’s house as JP’s son. Ajay is kept in a house with a lady inspector (Maryam Zakaria) masquerading as Swapna. But, Das (Jeeva) and Puli (Raghubabu), henchmen of Nanda, suspect something wrong about Kalyan but can’t figure it out.
Rest of the story deals with how Kalyan outwits KP, JP and Nanda and hand them over to the police without jeopardizing his love to Swapna.
The Performances
Naresh carries himself as he usually does, but somehow he appears overconfident in his role. His facial expressions and body language did not match while delivering the punch dialogues. Even his imitations of other actors are not that funny.
Sneha Ullal is gorgeous and fills the glamour part of the film. Ahuthi Prasad, Dharmavarapu Subramanyam, Jayaprakash Reddy, Jeeva and Ashish Vidhyarthi are funny and perform according to the script. Ali, Raghubabu and MS Narayana evoke a few laughs. All others go through their motions.
The Techniques
The entire film is a series of spoofs on top heroes’ films. The charade of Kalyan as the son of JP is ok, but stretching it again to be the son of Nanda is too far fetched and a little cumbersome. The events are too obvious and predictable to be funny.
Dialogues do not add to the comic sense as both events and punch lines are spoofs. The screenplay attracts the attention in the first half but falters in the post interval period. Music is good. The choreography and the single action scene are also conceived as spoofs on top stars and their films. Cinematography is good. Editing and audiography are ok.
The Verdict
Madatha Kaja by contemporary connotation means that some one is very clever in hoodwinking others. But in the film, the hero’s actions are not highly clever but he succeeds because other characters are shown as too dumb and as dimwits.
Even in a make-believe situation, comedy succeeds when the charade appears plausible. The film evokes a few laughs but ends up as a disappointing fare, even by the standards of earlier films of Naresh.
The film is a time-pass filler and can be seen if you have nothing else to do.
The Cast and Crew
Naresh, Sneha Ullal, Ahuthi Prasad, Dharmavarapu Subramanyam, Jayaprakash Reddy
Director: Seetaramaraju
Producer: KK Radha Mohan
Music Director: Vasant

Prince Mahesh Babus's Dookudu Movie Review

Rating: 3.75 5

Dookudu Movie Review
INTRO:
Prince Mahesh babu’s Dookudu finally on screen under high expectations as his earlier flicks Khaleja, Athidhi din’t perform well at box-office. This time Prince teamed up with most successful combination Srinu Vytla, Gopi Mohan and Kona Venkat. Let us how far Dookudu met with expectations.
IN AND OUT:
Dookudu movie opens in times of year 80 with narrating life of Shankar Narayana(Prakash Raj), a local leader with huge mass following. Shankar Narayana is Demi-God to people of Shankar Nagar in Hyderabad. On journey to attend a function in one of his followers place, Shankar Narayana meets with an accident and dies along with his followers. He is survived with a lovable family and son Ajay (Mahesh babu).
In current time Ajay (Mahesh babu) an IPS officer is on a mission to catch Mafia Don (Sonu Sood) and gets suspended by being a victim to tactics played by opponents.
During this mission Ajay come to know real conspiracy behind accident of his father and wants to take revenge on it.
On the other side Shankar Narayana gets hospitalized and taken care by his son Ajay, though people of Shankar Nagar think he is no more.
Dookudu is an action packed movie filled with humorous episodes in narration. You can find satires on reality shows and wannabe actors.
ON SCREEN:
Samantha plays love interest of Mahesh babu and her character is limited, she looks OK. Energetic performance and comedy timing
Dookudu Movie Review
by Mahesh babu steals the show with his Telangana Accent. Prakash Raj as usual versatile and mesmerizes audience with his performance as a lovable father and good human being. Brahmanandam as Padma Sree runs the show again, like in earlier Srinu Vaitla flicks. MS Narayana, Shiva Reddy, Kota Srinivasa Rao, Shiyaji Shinde, Tanikella Bharani, Chandra Mohan and all others did justice to their roles.
OFF SCREEN:
Director Srinu Vytla ran the show with gripping screen play and perfect comedy by lead actors wherever required. Story given by Gopinath is apt for an actor like Mahesh babu. Dialogues by Kona Venkat are superb and have comedy timing. Samantha’s makeup should have been better. Background score by SS Thaman is an asset, songs are average. Production values and quality of the movie are high.
FINAL TOUCH:
Dookudu is a feast for Prince Mahesh babu fans. First half of the movie is interesting and makes you to think, is it going to be a block buster? It is the dragging and dramatic second half, which turns show down. But enough entertainment quotients are injected. Length of movie should have been trimmed; it is 2:50 min.

Vankay Fry Movie Review

The Rating
1.5 / 5
The Film
Vankaya Fry is a pathetic attempt to make the audience laugh with a stale story packed loosely with insipid incidents.
The Synopsis
Diwakar-Prabhakar-Sudhakar (Sumith Arora) joins Chopra Advertising agency and soon replaces Pooja (Anu Smruthi) as the creative head. The Ad agency is in doldrums trying in vain to do some business. DPS has grandfather stories to tell and eats like a famished refugee.
A gang, lead by Shaik Kalanjali kidnap Pooja and also DPS. They want ransom from Pooja’s father who refuses to pay. The gang obviously amateurish in crime keeps Pooja and DPS at a lonely bungalow in a forest and is at loss to find a way out for the kidnap affair. Brother-in-law of the kidnapper (MS Narayana) and Kaka (Brahmanandam) also land up making things worse. The rest of the story deals with DPS getting Pooja free from the kidnappers den.
The Performances
Sumith Arora tries his best to amuse with his strange diction and dialogue delivery ( which sounds akin to that of Sayaji Shinde) but fails. Anu Smruthi just go through the motions like a dimwit. Venumadhav, Brahmanandam and MS Narayana are wasted. All others are too unprofessional in their roles.
The Techniques
The story is just a hotchpotch of stray incidents knit together without any rhyme or reason. The toilet and overeating jokes are nauseating. Dialogues are dull and boring. Thankfully there are no songs and dances. Cinematography by G S Chakravarty is the redeeming feature. Technically the film is poorly made.

The Verdict
The title Vankaya Fry has absolutely no connection with the story or the characters in it. The film is a total waste of precious resources. It is badly conceived and executed in much worse manner. Forget about this film, or else you get fried!
The Cast and Crew
Sumith Arora, Anu Smruthi, Brahmanandam, M S Narayana, Kadambari Kiran, Chitram Srinu, Jogi Naidu, Pilla Prasad and others
Banner: Eswar Cine Media
Producer: BCM Reddy
Director: Chandramouli
